What you can’t sell on SnapSell

Effective date: October 5, 2026

SnapSell helps you list secondhand items quickly, and every listing can go to Facebook Marketplace and your BioShop. To keep buyers, sellers and those marketplaces safe, some items can’t be listed at all, some can be listed but never on an AI model, and some photos need a retake first.

1Why these rules exist

These rules combine the law, Facebook Marketplace’s Commerce Policies (every listing can be published there, so anything Facebook bans would be rejected anyway) and the terms of the partner that creates our AI photos. When you take a photo, SnapSell checks it against this list before writing the listing or editing the photo.

2Items you can’t list

SnapSell won’t create a listing for any of these:

  • Drugs. Illegal drugs, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
  • Weapons. Firearms, ammunition and gun parts, explosives and fireworks, knives sold as weapons, replica and airsoft guns.
  • People. People, human body parts or fluids, and sexual services.
  • Live animals. Any living animal, including pets and livestock.
  • Animal parts. Ivory, pelts and other wildlife products.
  • Adult products. Sex toys, adult products and explicit material.
  • Counterfeits. Replica or fake branded goods, and anything that infringes copyright or trademarks.
  • Stolen or recalled goods. Anything stolen, and products that have been recalled or banned.
  • Documents and currency. IDs, passports, licences, real or fake currency, cheques and other financial instruments.
  • Alcohol and tobacco. Alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco, vapes and e-cigarettes.
  • Medical products. Prescription and over-the-counter medicines, medical devices and supplements.
  • Hazardous materials. Dangerous chemicals and other hazardous materials.
  • Used cosmetics. Makeup and skincare that has been opened or used.
  • Digital products. Accounts, subscriptions, downloads and gift codes.
  • Gambling. Gambling items, lottery tickets and betting.
  • Hate and violence. Hate symbols and hateful or violent items.
  • Anything else illegal. Any other item that is unlawful to sell where you are.

Ordinary goods are fine — kitchen knives, toy figures, pet supplies, sealed new cosmetics, clothing and phones, for example.

3Items we don’t put on AI models

You can sell these with your own photo or a clean studio background, but SnapSell never shows them worn by an AI model:

  • Swimwear, underwear and lingerie.
  • Children’s and baby clothing.

4Photos we’ll ask you to retake

The item is fine, but the photo needs another go:

  • A child in the photo. Retake it with only the item in frame.
  • Personal details. An ID card, bank card, prescription label or anything else with personal or financial details that can be read. Retake it so they can't be.
  • Someone's face. Crop or retake the photo so only the item shows. Wearing the item yourself is fine as long as your face isn't in the shot.
  • An animal that isn't for sale. A pet sitting on the chair you're selling, for example. Photograph the item on its own so our AI edits the right thing.
  • Several items. When it isn't clear which one you're selling, photograph just that one.

Nothing is sent to our AI photo partner until there’s a photo without these problems. For an animal, someone’s face or several items you can also carry on without AI photos.

5AI-generated images

When a listing’s cover shows your item worn by an AI model, it’s labelled “AI-generated image” on your BioShop and in the Facebook description. If you’d rather use your own photo, choose Original in the app before publishing.

6Items Facebook may reject

Facebook restricts some other items that SnapSell doesn’t block, such as certain vehicle parts. Listings like these may be rejected by Facebook Marketplace even though they appear on your BioShop.

7What happens if something breaks these rules

  • At upload: SnapSell tells you the item can’t be listed. If you think we got it wrong, tap “This isn’t right” and our team will take a look.
  • Reports: buyers can report a conversation, and our team reviews every report.
  • Removal: a listing that breaks these rules can be removed, and you’ll get a notice in the app saying which one and why.
  • Suspension: repeated violations can lead to your account being suspended.
